Our services in this area comprise all legal aspects related to the mining and metallurgy industries, from prospecting to mine closures, including advice on mining and commercial contracts, joint ventures, land titling, administrative procedures, environmental management, taxation, investment promotion, health and safety. Our legal expertise includes privatization of State-owned mines and mineral projects. We have provided legal advice to foreign investors in the privatization of the Tintaya mine (1994), La Oroya Metallurgical Complex (1997), the Cobriza Mine (1998), and have conducted due diligence process on different prospects at the request of our clients.

 

Currently we are advising the consortium formed by BHP Billiton Tintaya S.A. and BHP Billiton World Exploration Inc. in the international auction for the Las Bambas project, considered one of the largest copper scarn in Peru.

 

Among our clients there are multinational corporations as well as local mining companies. We are legal advisers in Peru of foreign companies such as BHP Billiton Inc., BHP Billiton Minerals Inc., BHP Billiton World Exploration Inc., Doe Run Resources Inc., and the Renco Group. Our Peruvian clients includes BHP Billiton Tintaya S.A., Doe Run Perú S.R.L., Sociedad Minera La Granja S.A., Compañía de Minas Buenaventura S.A., Compañía Minera Condestable S.A., ATTIMSA and Sociedad Minera Sartimbamba S.A. We also provide advice to different governmental offices of the Energy and Mines Sector such as the National Institute of Mineral Concessions and Cadastre (INACC), General Directorate of Mining (DGM), General Directorate of Environmental Affairs (DGAA), and the National Institute of Geology, Mining and Metallurgy (INGEMMET).
